The Titanic Had a Sister Ship That Also Sank

The Britannic, Titanic’s lesser-known sister ship, met a similar fate but under different circumstances. Originally named Gigantic, it was later converted into a hospital ship during WWI. In 1916, it struck a German naval mine and sank in just 55 minutes — much faster than Titanic.

Fortunately, improved safety measures saved most passengers, though some lifeboats were pulled into the ship’s spinning propellers — killing 30 people. Interestingly, Titanic survivor Violet Jessop also survived this disaster (she survived three sunken ships in total!). Today, Britannic rests in the Aegean Sea, better preserved than Titanic due to its shallower depth.

Entertainment

Eric Marlon Bishop

Eric Marlon Bishop, better known as Jamie Foxx is an Oscar-winning actor, singer, and all-around entertainer. He changed his name early in his career to improve his chances at stand-up comedy gigs. Noticing that female comedians were often called up first, he chose a gender-neutral name to get on stage more often. “Jamie” was ambiguous, and “Foxx” was a tribute to comedian Redd Foxx.
