The ANZUS Agreement of 1951 is a security treaty between Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. It was signed on September 1, 1951, in response to growing Cold War tensions and the outbreak of the Korean War.

The treaty commits the three countries to mutual defence — if one is attacked in the Pacific region, the others will consult and act to meet the threat.
