History

The Printing Press

When Johannes Gutenberg introduced the mechanical movable-type printing press in the 1440s, he unknowingly launched a revolution. Before his invention, books were copied by hand — a slow, expensive process limited to monks and scholars. Gutenberg’s press changed that forever.

For the first time, information could be mass-produced. Books became cheaper, literacy spread beyond the elite, and new ideas could travel rapidly across Europe. This helped spark major movements like the Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution.

The Glutes

The glutes — short for gluteal muscles — are the largest and among the most powerful muscle groups in the human body. They consist of three distinct muscles:

  1. Gluteus Maximus – The largest and most superficial of the three, this muscle is responsible for hip extension (like standing up or climbing stairs). It also helps with external rotation and keeping the torso upright during movement.

  2. Gluteus Medius – Located on the outer surface of the pelvis, this muscle plays a crucial role in stabilising the pelvis during walking or running. It also helps abduct the hip (moving the leg away from the midline).

  3. Gluteus Minimus – The smallest and deepest of the trio, this muscle supports the gluteus medius in stabilising the pelvis and assists in hip abduction and internal rotation.

Where “Deadline” Really Comes From

Today, a deadline means the latest time something must be done — but its origins are far more grim. The term dates back to the American Civil War, when prison camps marked a literal "dead line" around the perimeter. If prisoners crossed it, they risked being shot on sight.
